John Mays - Florist
Serving the Brides of the Inland Empire since 1974

Since 1974 when we first started serving Brides and their Floral needs in the Inland Empire, until today, just about every Bride has needed a Bouquet for her and her party. Bridal party bouquets are for the most part more fun and much more simple to make and carry then they were all those years ago.

Bouquets today are often hand tied and as varied as the flowers that are used in them. Hand tied bouquets are based on Dutch or European design styles and trends. Click on the Hand Tied bouquet to see examples of popular, current flower and bouquet variety. Remember if you do not find your exact combination note the style, as any flowers may be designed in any fashion with a few exceptions. You may bring or send photos or pictures of Bouquets to us, if you would like to have an estimate or consultation.

Having photos to guide us in arranging wedding flowers or giving a wedding estimate,  provides a means by which both the bride and the florist know what any finished bouquet will look like.

To view the Contemporary Hand Tied Bouquets just spend a moment looking at the above pictures.

The bouquet designs popular since before the invention of floral foam, are what we now call

 Classic Wedding Flower  designs.

Strangely the early wedding bouquets, were all arranged as hand tied designs, the major difference from then to now is how they were tied and constructed.

Back then each flower was removed from the stem below the flower head, then attached on a long wire and taped the length.

Each flower in the bouquet was prepared in this manner, gathered together bent and fashioned into the shapes you will see below.

Then tied together at the base to form a handle.

Today we use the natural stems of flowers to form the bouquets or for the more classic arrangements we use a Bouquet Holder with foam inside to keep flowers fresh.

Classic bouquets are similar to our contemporary designs except that they are arranged in holders called BHO's, these flowers are  arranged in foam and stored in little water and do not hold up, overall, as well as hand tied designs.

There are many classic bouquet designs that can be copied in the hand tied style and many great combination's of flowers, please look at these designs and think of how the combination's could be used in your flower selection. Click on the vintage Bride to see classic bouquet designs.

Many of these Bouquets, were from over the years and still have flowers they are arranged with, that are popular with Brides today.
